From the Mouth of My Babe

Pictures taken at breakfast a few weeks ago
Tonight while shampooing the carpet in Skylie's room:

Me: "Skylie what's that blue gob on the ground?"
Skylie: "My cow yogurt."
Me: "Oh, you spilled yogurt on the carpet. That makes me sad."
Skylie: "No! You're happy."
Me: "No, it makes me sad because now I have to try to clean it up."

Nothing more was said of the stain.

Ten minutes later while I was giving Kaitlyn a bottle Skylie plopped down next to me on the couch and in the most heartfelt and sincere words a two-year-old could possibly muster said, "Mommy, I'm sorry I spilled my cow yogurt on the carpet."

I gushed with hugs and kisses and reassurances such as, "It's okay. I know it was an accident." She must have caught on to the fact that her apology was well received because she proceeded to say sorry about ten more times this evening.

It's time like these that help me realize that some character traits I'm trying to instill in that cute little blond head really are sinking in. I sure love my little girls.

Life is good.
