Roommate Reunion

Five and a half years ago I walked into an empty apartment at the Riviera complex in Rexburg, Idaho. Excitement, worry, loneliness, and every emotion in between filled me as I realized that I was now "on my own". As I watched my parents drive away, tears welled in my eyes and I wondered if I'd really love college as much as I'd expected.

Five other girls arrived shortly after, and thanks to them my freshman year at BYU-Idaho surpassed my highest expectations. We became roommates by chance. But even though we all came from different backgrounds and had different personalities, these girls became some of my dearest friends.

We shared our secrets, our clothes, our food, our heartaches and successes, and sometimes even boys. They saw me at my best—and at my worst—and thankfully they loved me all the same. (I'd probably gag my freshmen self if I had her as a roommate now. I was off-the-wall C-RAZY!)

Friday, five of us got together for the first time since Julie's wedding four and a half years ago. Everyone's a little more mature (hopefully). Some of us have married, some have returned from serving missions; but at then end of the day, we're all the same. That makes me happy.

We ate a late lunch at Cafe Rio, then took way too many pictures (according to Matt). Here's a few of them.

I love this picture!

Julie and I both dated and eventually married two friends from Blackfoot, Idaho. Matt and Doug were Roommate #7 and Roommate #8.

Terra, we missed you tons! It wasn't the same without you!

Roomies: Let me know if you want me to email you all the pictures. :)

Oh man I SO wish I could have been there!! It looks like you guys had a lot of fun!! Thanks for taking lots of pics, it's fun for me to see everyone together, even if I wasn't there! :) Oh and I was thinking as I was looking at the pictures, those of us with kids all have daughters...maybe Hallie, Ainsley, Abby and Skylie can all grow up to be roommates someday! :)

Oh my gosh, Erin! That's awesome! I'm so happy you got to see your first roomies again! Looking at all you girls in those pictures makes me think of that very first Mother's Weekend when I came up with my mom and your mom and I got to spend the weekend with you! That was so much fun! I've been wondering what Whitney's been up to. Do you know if she's coming back to BYU-I or if she's here already?
