He's 30

Matt turned 30 on Wednesday! Big day.

He lucked out and had not only Wednesday but Thursday as his days off of work this week--truly a birthday miracle since he hasn't had two consecutive days off all year.
I'd taken the girls shopping last week to get Matt a birthday present. Sky was excited to help him open presents first thing Wednesday morning.

We considered making a day trip to Cincinnati but opted to stay in Indy and check out the zoo. We had a blast!
This girl seemed to be stuffing her mouth with food the entire time. The frozen lemonade was to die for. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Per Matt's request we ate Tostada's with homemade guacamole and salsa for dinner while Skylie watched Dora upstairs. Eating sans toddlers is a luxury in itself!
Later friends joined us for birthday dessert--banana cream pie and ice cream.

Happy birthday, Matt!

There's so many great things I could say about Matt, but my words won't do him justice. He has sacrificed a lot and exercised a great deal of self-discipline over the past six years as he's worked toward his educational and career goals. He is highly esteemed and respected by his coworkers for his efficiency, his level-headed demeanor, and he is a favorite among the medical personnel and patients that he works with.

He's undoubtedly the favorite parent in this house by both his daughters, most likely because he's so willing to play with the kids and seems to have endless amounts of patience. Just yesterday I was taken aback at how unhurried he seemed as he got Skylie ready for her nap and at how willingly he obliged to her endless requests (Wipe my nose...sit on the potty...read one more book...).

I am personally grateful to Matt for recognizing my wants and needs and for encouraging me in my individual goals. He spends a lot of time and effort thinking about me and doing things that will help make my life easier. I really lucked out when I snagged him back when he was only 22!
