Month Seven

Kaitlyn,

Tonight your dad mentioned that it seems as though you've "turned into a little person" within the past few days. Your personality is showing more and more each day, and I'm loving it! You're a relaxed little girl and will usually go with the flow. I love cuddling with you and watching you while you sleep. Today we went to the park. I put you in the swing for the first time. Your eyes got huge and your lips pursed in a look of slight alarm! It was pretty funny.

Last weekend at Sam's Club it seemed like fifty million people came up to look at you and Skylie and compliment you on your big blue eyes. I felt like a celebrity!

Within the past month:

You've rolled over. You can roll from your front to your back and can practically make it from your back to your stomach. I wouldn't classify you as mobile, though, yet. You can't quite sit up on your own, and I imagine it will be some time before you're crawling. You're such a little thing that you don't quite have the strength for those endeavors, yet. You've grown to love solid foods! You're so cute when we set you in your Bumbo to eat. You'll see the goods on the spoon, thrust your neck forward, open your mouth wide, and snatch that food like nobodies business. Oddly enough, it reminds me of a lizard flicking it's tongue out to catch food. You like baby food from the jar more than Skylie ever did. I'm surprised that you chow down on mushy green "mixed vegetables". Fruits are your favorite, though. Yesterday you ate half of a mashed banana in one meal!

At your six month well child check, you'd dropped significantly off your growth curve and had had a snorty breathing issue for months, so the pediatrician referred us to a pulmonary specialist. X-rays showed that the adenoids in your nose are inflamed, most likely from the acidity in the massive amount of spit up that comes out of you. You're now getting a nasal spray and are taking medicine for reflux. After being sick off and on for most of the winter, you're doing much better now.
You sleep well. Usually you go to bed between 7 and 8 p.m. and wake up between 6 and 7 a.m. to eat. Then you'll go back to bed without a fuss for a couple more hours. I LOVE that you usually don't protest going down for naps and at bedtime. You don't sleep well in your car seat anymore, so you'll usually take a long nap in the afternoon when we get home from our morning outings. Sometimes, you take a quick nap in the evening, too.

We love you so much, Kaitlyn! I love (and am grateful for) your mild temperament. I can't imagine what we ever did without you.

Love,

Mom
