The source behind my lack of blogging

In October I felt as though I was in the thick of thin things.

What began as a simple project of adding insulation to a few unfinished walls in the garage turned into a mammoth project. It all began because I wanted Skylie's room (above the garage) to be warm. Simple and understandable, right?

But you see, I'm a little bit of a perfectionist, and I hate half-completed projects. After hitting up Menard's, Home Depot, and borrowing a friend's saw and drill Matt and I committed to finishing the garage. I insulated, then he took charge to hang the drywall and pegboard. I finished the job by taping, spackling, sanding, and painting. Spackling and sanding drywall is about as fun as poking needles in your eyes, by the way.

It's far from perfect, but it is a garage after all. And after too many late nights and nap times spend in the garage, I decided there are a million things more important than a perfect garage.

I snatched the broken glider (seen on the left) from the curb on garbage day and plan to use the cushions to reupholster a similar glider we own. The fabric on our glider has flaked off.

Wish I had a before picture. Two walls already had drywall, so Matt and I primarily added the pegboard and added drywall to the side where the garage door hangs. I love that it's organized now!

October marked the month for me to finish off a few projects. I painted four closets and the loft (an undone project that had been rattling around in my mind for too long) and with birthday money from my parents I developed prints and modge podged them onto canvas.

I developed the prints at Costco, bought the canvas's at Hobby Lobby using 40% off coupons I get though email, then worked my magic with Modge Podge and black craft paint. Prints of the girls are 18 x 24, and our family picture is 20 x 24. For less than fifty dollars this project made a great addition to our entryway.
I'm now jumping on the bandwagon to document my gratitude each day in November. It's a lame one, I know. But today I'm thankful that garage project is over and done with--so that I can spend more time and focus on far more important people and things.
