Month Eleven

Skylie,

Sunday night I was sitting on the floor in tears at the fact that your dad will be gone for three months. (It was just a momentary breakdown—and while I'm sure there will be more breakdowns ahead of us, I'm trying to be positive.) Anyway, you walked over to me, wrapped your arms around my neck, and gave me big open mouth kisses. It was just what I needed to make me laugh. I love you! And I love that I get to be with you.

Your dad will be missing out on seeing you every day. He is really sad that he won't get to play with you for a while. You two are so cute together. In sacrament meeting last week, your dad had gotten up and was standing behind us. Your eyes followed him everywhere he went. You pointed at him and even said, "Daddy".

You are a busy girl. You're:
Walking
Climbing up and down stairs
Dancing
Kissing
Waving
Shaking your head
Eating everything with your fingers—including whatever's on the ground
Pulling drawers open and emptying the contents
Rolling a ball
Pushing open doors
Saying "daddy" and sometimes "mama"
Clapping
Imitating others' actions
Playing peek-a-boo
And doing so much more.

Early Bird
After you wake up and I feed you in the mornings, I take you in to see your dad. You get the biggest smile when you see him and realize that we're going to let you play on our bed with us. You bounce around and throw yourself from me then to your dad and back again. It is one of my favorite times with you, even if I am sometimes roused out of bed earlier than I'd like.

Chocolate Lover
A few weeks ago, you begged for the chocolate I was eating. I let you have a piece and you loved it! You whimpered and cooed and tried everything imaginable to get another bit. I didn't let you, and you got really, really mad at me when you saw me devour the last bite.

Friendly
Your dad and I used to think you might be shy, but I'm pretty sure that you're not. You especially love being around other children. Whenever I take you to a play area or splash pad, you usually give everyone a cheesy grin. If you're lucky, you smooch/hug/maul the other kids. (I think it's adorable, Skylie, but I'm pretty sure the other parents aren't as thrilled about your affectionate nature, so you might want to tame it down a bit.)

And then go in for the kill.

Itty-Bitty
While grocery shopping last week, at least four people commented on how small you are. Don't worry. What you lack in size, you make up for in personality!

Milestones

• Thursday, July 1: First time attempting to climb stairs (You succeeded.).
• Monday, July 5: First time playing at the mall play area (and actually being able to crawl around and play).


• Monday, July 12: First time trying regular milk. You are not a fan, yet.
• Wednesday, July 14: First haircut.

BEFORE (That's a toothbrush you have in your mouth. My toothbrush. Seriously, we're close, right?)

AFTER
• Sunday, July 26: First time attempting to crawl down stairs (You succeeded, again.)
• Sunday, July 26: First time rolling a ball.
• Teeth: 8
